Domestic Violence Community Education Day

Domestic Violence Conference

The Tarpon Springs Rotary Club, in conjunction with the Shepherd Center of Tarpon Springs, hosted a Community Education Day to address the problem of domestic violence and trauma and the behavioral signs of victims.  Hear real stories from victims, learn about the resources available in the community and how to intervene.

Objectives:

  • Hear real stories from victims of domestic violence and trauma
  • Learn about the resources available in our community and how to intervene

Speakers:

  • Tonier Cain, Director of Advocacy Services, National Association of State Mental Health Directors
  • Dr. Joan Gillece, Project Director, National Center for Trauma Informed Care
  • Dr. Andy Blanch, President, Center for Religious Tolerance, National Trauma Consortium
  • Kim Townsel, Director/Principal, The Townsel Group

We had about 250 people in attendance and the comments we’ve received from many of them have been very positive. Thank you to all who helped make this even possible in our community.
