Club Membership Committee
The membership committee develops and implements an action plan for recruiting, retaining, and educating club members.
Responsibilities
The membership committee has the following responsibilities:
- Develop committee goals to achieve club membership goals for the coming year
- Conduct club assessments to determine strengths and weaknesses
- Work with the public relations committee to create a positive club image that is attractive to prospective and current members alike
- Develop programs to educate and train new and current club members
- Sponsor newly organized clubs in your district, if applicable
Sub-committees:
Recruitment and Classifications
- Review proposed member classification and investigate qualifications for membership
- Conduct Classifications Survey to generate list of unfilled classifications
- Encourage members to reach out to prospective members
Rotary Membership Education
- Pre-induction education about Rotary and membership obligations
- Red badge (STAR program) – list of action items to earn member name badge
- Continuing education and leadership training
- Have orientation checklist for each new inductee
- Have new members complete the “mystery Rotarian” questionnaire
Membership Retention
- Attendance – Encourage make-ups when club meetings are missed , “We missed you” letters/email
- Conduct exit interviews and share results with committee and club board
Family of Rotary
- Coordinate and provide comfort and assistance to members or family in crisis, need or sorrow.
