This year’s Parade will be held on Saturday, December 17, beginning at 10:00 a.m. at the Winn Dixie parking lot (at Pinellas Ave. & Morgan St. ). This has always been a great source of fun for the community and as with past years, the Rotary Club of Tarpon Springs will also be participating.

Additional Information and Links

  • The parade starts at 10:00am at the Winn Dixie parking lot and eventually ends at Craig Park.
  • Children of all ages are invited to the Candy Cane Hunt to be held at Craig Park immediately following the Parade. There they can visit with Santa and his elves and Hunt for candy canes in the Park (think Easter eggs). This program is sponsored by the City of Tarpon Springs Recreation Department (727) 942-5628.
  • The Tarpon Springs Chamber of Commerce will be giving out Free Coffee and Hot Chocolate at the their offices on Tarpon Avenue.

Our 22nd Tarpon Springs Traithon was cancelled on September 10th due to severe thunder storms and lightning. This time the weather cooperated and we had a great race!

Due to the short turn around time we could not re-do the beer and restaurant food, but they will be back, along with the cookies, next year! So please come back on September 8, 2012 and join us for our 23rd Tarpon Springs Triathlon!

The Shepherd Center also helps the unemployed’s transition into the workforce and provides for the elderly poor. Ron requested that members visit the center, volunteer their services and donate to the retail store.

We enjoyed a wonderful presentation by the Group Study Exchange (GSE) Team from Australia District 9780 (Team leader: Robyn Lardner, Team members: Will Buchanan, Ann McDowell, Anne Pett, and Mary Raynes). We also welcomed a new member to our club, Elizabeth “Betty” Purchase, who is a retired chaplain.

Many Thanks to Ed and Barbara Hoffman for sharing their beautiful home for our Rotary Social and Reception for the GSE Team from Australia later that evening. Thank you also to Celia Dubey for coordinating the arrangements, to Sue Thomas for taking pictures, and to everyone else who helped.

Our guest speaker today was Erin Moore, Deputy for Assessment Administration for the Pinellas County Property Appraiser’s Office. She explained the recent trends of Pinellas County Property Appraisals.

Barbara Gallagher and George Bouris were inducted into the club. Barbara is Regent Princess (Chasco Chapter) of the Daughters for the American Revolution. George is a certified auto repair mechanic & owner of 5 star auto repairs. Please extend a warm welcome to them.
